Does God like or respect persistance? or does it piss Him off? has He ever voiced His opinion on persistance as we know it?

"Keep on asking"
by Jeffro ini was thinking about luke 11:5-9, and how it really is bad, bad advice.. instead of encouraging individuals to ask for something, and then have the faith that things will work out for the best - though not necessarily as they may want - the particularly poor advice of this passage not only condones a selfish attitude of pestering god/others until they get what they want, but when put into practice, it also encourages anxiety induced by expectations of unfulfilled hopes..

"fruits"?
why didn't He just say results or actions? Why call a persons actions "fruits"? What other words are disguised in there? What was the purpose in doing that? Who was he trying to leave in the dark by doing that?
Any guesses? Or undisputable answers?

Holy Spirit
by sedrah inis the holy spirit really a force or a person?.
if so why then the bible describes the holy spirit as a person who posseses intellect, emotions, and will?
he performs things that can be only performed by a person.

Truth is..we don't know who we are..where we are going..or came from for absolute certain.
People talk about going to heaven..but don't you need to know exactly what it is before deciding if you want to be there or not? How can a person make an informed decision without facts?
We do not know what Holy Spirit is either for absolute certain.
Only the One that first introduced the word to describe it knows for absolute certain.

What happens when a child sees this and hears this?
by The Dragon ina father has to spank a childs sibling for committing a wrongdoing in his eyes or judgement in front of them.
what goes through that childs mind as he watches dad "put it down"?.
does it say when people do something wrong in their judgement as they grow older it is ok and nessesary to stike them.

My dad will tell you he beat from the day I was born....and still can't control me like that.
You would think he would have tried outsmarting me instead after the first ten years of failure trying this tactic.
I only keep doing things if they yeild the results I am looking for..if not I try new things until I am satisfied with the results. Pretty simple IMO.

Amazing how people think their words can cover up their actions and example freeing them to try to force others to do one thing while they do the opposite themselves.
Is there a word that best describes this line of thinking?

THE UNSEEN MAGIC and THE MYSTERY of the MUNDANE
by Terry ini've known two professional magicians in my lifetime.. one was a friend and the other was a very close friend.. both would discuss magic with me at different times.
each was devoted to protecting the secrecy necessary to maintain the brotherhood of illusion.. however, i am a curious person.
i am challenged by the unknown.

When a child sees their father spank or beat on a younger sibling for his judgement of "wrongdoing"....will the older look at this way of handling things and be beaten if he tries to imitate it and punish his sibling for committing what he/she considers "wrongdoing" in their judgement?
Do you want your children judging and punishing one another in your absence?
Ask yourself that sometime....
I guess it would depend on what kind of children you want to raise?

What happens when the older strikes the younger for doing something they think is wrong or bad?
Does dad beat them for striking their sibling and relying on their own judgement to judge and punish their younger brother or sister?
Words can only get you so far....but actions tell the tell beyond argument or dispute.
Do you want your children to beat and punish one another as they see fit. Or leave it up to you?

What exactly is their defintion of "paradise"?
Do they even know or have a clear description of it?
Authur pretty much summed it up nicely.
My question is how can I get my mom and friends out of there before they send them on a death mission?
Fighting at her level..is not producing the results I am looking for....
I don't wear a suit and tie...so my words mean squat to her right now.
Do I have to take the fight to the cause to get any results or what?

Basking in the ever increasing light
by truthsetsonefree inpbs just aired a great episode on the american experience.
it was about yellow fever.
and how while the cure has not been found, the pioneering efforts of some dedicated doctors, in one case sacrificing his life, lead to the understanding that a certain type of mosquito was transmitting the virus.

No problem Nark...
But you do realize I enjoy Chris Angel just as much as the next person....and was not directing my attack towards magicians in any sense...
But the topic stood out to me as a perfect metaphor for trying to communicate the thought I have had recently.
I used it quite a bit...My apologies if I hijacked this thread and disrupted your conversation...I assure my intentions were pure though......
Thank you for helping me greatly by bringing it up Terry!
Wow! I hope to buy you beer someday.
